The Manifesto 都会宣言

Dear Comrades, MANifesto has finally arrived in the blogosphere. In fact, we've set up not just one blog, but two! Really, we figured no normal person (apart from ourselves of course) would be on our website everyday, but from now we'd like to give you a good reason to.

In a nutshell, The Manifesto is going to be a very sexy blog. Which means you, dear readers, are going to have a lot to ogle at! Of course, that doesn't mean we won't have intelligent, thought-provoking, inspiring material. And it's not all going to be underwear talk here just because we're an underwear e-tailer. Basically anything and everything under the sun that we fancy will be covered here.

And for those of you that have a way with words, why not consider writing for us? Email us at info@manifesto.com.cn with your writing samples and a link to your blog and we'll get right back to you!

We'll keep this first post short and sweet, and leave you with the first video that we created for our launch. We can't believe it has been five months!

Many people have been asking us when we're going to finally put up the pictures from our party, Back to Basics, where we basically unveiled our autumn/winter 2006/07 collection. Well the wonderful guys from Shanghaiist, our favourite city blog, came along to the event and snapped a few pictures. You don't see the most exciting stuff that happened because they came a little late, but we promise you more juicy stuff VERY soon!

Dear Comrades, we are finally back! The Taiwan earthquake rattled connection here in China for a while, and we were also migrating our servers, which left us unable to update our blog for a while. But we're back with a vengeance, so bookmark this page and tell your friends! For now, some eye candy to whet your appetites.

CITY WEEKEND invited some "interesting people" in Beijing and Shanghai from various professional backgrounds to be on the cover of its first edition this year, and asked about the best thing that happened to them in 2006 as well as their hopes for the new year ahead. As the case happens to be, they think yours truly counts among the "interesting people" (not quite sure what this is supposed to mean). For the photo shoot, each guest had to bring along something that best represents his/her career. An interior designer brought along a measuring tape while a bar manager brought along some shot glasses. I took with me a pair of C-IN2, but eventually decided, what the heck, I might as well take my pants off (thank God I was wearing my favourite pair of DT). That pretty much sums up my first experience stripping for publicity. Thank goodness it was all voluntary.

Spring has finally arrived! Well, almost! We've just launched some really nice sexy tanktops from our fifth brand, Ajaxx63, and we think some of these models are really hot, hot, hot!

Calling all comrades in Shanghai! This Saturday, Manifesto joins city blog Shanghaiist.com (of which yours truly is a contributor) and streetwear brand Eno for a Happy Hour! Eno is a Shanghai-based lifestyle brand that collaborates with artists across China to create limited edition products. And they've got a very handsome store to go along with that fabulous concept!

Live Music: The Shotgun SheRas, an excellent all-girl country and bluegrass band from south of the border (yes, Hong Kong). Check out this video. Hear more of their music at MySpace. See photos of the band at their website. This is a great chance to see a fun and talented band in an intimate setting. And NO COVER CHARGE. That's right, it's free. The band will start at 5:30 pm..

Shopping: ENO and MANifesto will be offering some great discounts on selected items to party-goers on their outerwear and underwear.

Drinking: Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be served, and they'll be cheap. For every 20 kuai beer you buy, you get a 20 kuai coupon good toward the purchase of ENO merchandise. So, drink heavily!

This Saturday looks like it's going to be a busy day for all of us! After the Eno/Shanghaiist Happy Hour, join us for a bit of art back at Shanghai Studio, which has just undergone a massive makeover!

This multi-dimensional show, "From Bangkok to Shanghai", is Shanghai Studio's ninth art event and will feature the works of Be Takerng Pattanopas (Bangkok), videos by Jung-Chul Hur (Korea) and blow-ups by our very own Hanspeter Ammann (Switzerland).
